Day 5 – Texas, the final leg of the drive

Well, we got an early start today. We need to get to Houston and to our shipping company to unload, and then return the uhaul before end of business today. Tomorrow morning we fly to Belize.

We left so early in fact, that I couldn’t eat. Once we got on the road for a couple of hours I was hungry, so we stopped at a gas station and I got a corn dog and a biscuit. Corn dog was as expected, the biscuit was fried on the outside! Yuck, I had to peel off the super greasy and salty outside, and then the middle was good.

Once again my GPS helped us navigate the twisty secondary roads. Brad even praised the iPhone. Something I never thought I’d hear him say!

We’re trying to find a hotel near the airport now, one that is pet friendly and not too expensive. We already tried the holiday inn, but it’s $180/night. We’ve been paying between $89-120/night so far.

The vegetation is more tropical now too, palm trees and rubber trees. It is supposed to be 85 today, it sure is humid, but the clouds are clearing off.

We’ll drop the kitty off in the room with our bags and then double check our boxes before we go to the shipping company.
