To Do List

Here’s a list of some of the things we had to do before we could go:

• renew passports. Did you know that if your passport expires within 6 months of your date of travel they can deny you access to the plane? Luckily I figured this out so we got our passports renewed in time to go on our first trip (Picked them up the day before we left)
• bringing the cat.(rabies shot at least 30 days before, international health certificate, animal import permit, approved carrier for in airplane cabin, which airlines allow pets? how much does it cost, to use gravol or not, herbal remedies, traveling by car or plane)
• what are we going to bring?
• how do we get it there? Shipping companies  (charge by weight or by size?), how long does it take?
• renting a uhaul (1 way uhauls) get a lock!
• copies of ID (certified copies of birth certificate, DL, Passport)
• Banking (setting up wire transfers, online banking,)
• Mail (having it forwarded, getting a new mailbox & Fedex)
• cancelling utilities and dealing with contracts
• accounting and taxes
• using airmiles and aeroplan miles (2-way radios, and hotel stays, west jet credits)
• booking plane tickets (for a 1 way trip and a cat)
• planning a route and booking hotels (AMA triptiks, google maps, breaking up the journey by hotels and hours to travel)
• packing the boxes and making a shipping list (numbering each box, writing on the contents & values and making a shipping list for customs)
